Grand Tetons

Saturday, Sept 11 2010 was almost a 12 hour day.   We didn't get an early start (we never do it seems).  Left mid-morning headed through a portion of Yellowstone to come out at the south entrance so we would be at the top of the Grand Teton National Park.   What a awesome array of snow-capped mountains.    The tallest, Grand Teton, is more than 13000'.    We were advised to take a short cut instead of going into Jackson WY and what a pig path (even dirt) it turned out to be for a few miles.   Anyway, that dumped us into the corner of Idaho on the back side of the Tetons and we made it back to our campground in much less time than it would have taken us to go back through Yellowstone.   What contrast in landscapes as you will be able to see from the photos below.    A day full of spectacular scenery.
